Ellen, Daniel and Archie's story
When Ellen's world turned upside down at 24 weeks pregnant, she and partner Daniel faced the daunting journey of travelling from their Loxton home to Adelaide's Women's & Children's Hospital, not knowing when they would be back.
While Daniel found temporary accommodation with relatives, the premature birth of their 660-gram son, Archie, required a longer term solution for Ellen and Daniel.
Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia became their haven - but it wasn't just a place to stay; it was a community. Surrounded by other families facing similar challenges, they found solace and support.
"In the darkest of times, Ronald McDonald House brought us comfort", shared Ellen. "Every day, after spending long hours at the hospital, we returned to a place of comfort and understanding."
After 127 nights at Ronald McDonald House, Archie, was finally strong and well enough to go home. Ellen Daniel and Archie are now relishing their life together in Loxton, forever grateful for the support of Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia.
“It made the world of difference knowing we had a place close to Archie - knowing if something happened during the night, we only had a short walk to go see him.”
